Reflections of WLTX Field Trip

As many of you could tell, I absolutely loved our field trip to WLTX. Visiting the station was exciting for me because I know it’s where I belong. Broadcast is definitely my passion. I may not enjoy Dr. Grant’s general bookwork journalism class, but it made me realize that I’m going to have to do the “lame” and uneventful side before I’m able to actually participate in journalism. I ultimately want to be a producer of a news show, so it was interesting to see the advancements made in the control room. I know that the news has been covering stories on various journalism companies decreasing their staff each year and I’ve been told how competitive this field is, but somehow I know it’s for me. I love being able to take a mere idea and create a work of art, almost. Yes, a 1 ½ - 2 minute work of art. One that is informative and appealing to watch and pay attention to. Being at the station made me miss my high school journalism class SO MUCH! I also found out later that day that my HS broadcast journalism teacher interned at WLTX. It may not the be news station that I wind up interning at, but it’s nice to have made new connections in the field.
